Automobile and Centennial Building Restoration
The restoration of the Automobile and Centennial Buildings was completed in five phases after preparation of a master plan for these buildings, the Esplanade, Court of Honor and Parry Avenue Gates.
The projects combined architectural conservation with tenant improvements and rehabilitation of the building interiors, the replication of historic decorative finishes and the conservation of very rare murals and sculpture. The project received awards from local and state entities and is profiled online with the National Park Service's Technical Services database of project profiles.
The project is unique in that it was funded twice by the Save America's Treasures grant program, most recently for mural light protection.
Nancy McCoy served this project as Project Manager/Architect and designer for ARCHITEXAS.
