Fair Park Projects
Since 1997, Nancy McCoy, FAIA has been involved with planning and construction projects at Fair Park for the City of Dallas Park and Recreation Department.* These completed projects include the Comprehensive Development Plan, the restoration of the Tower, Centennial and Automobile Buildings, paint analysis throughout the park, art conservation and reconstruction and a revised historic district ordinance. Since 2007, Quimby McCoy has completed the Hall of State Improvements, the Parry Avenue Gate and Esplanade Restoration, and a master plan for the rehabilitation of the DAR/Continental Oil House. Quimby McCoy has also consulted with other architects on the Cotton Bowl Renovation and Expansion, the MLK and Grand Avenue Gates, the Fair Park Aquarium and the Texas Discovery Gardens. The firm is currently working on the design of interpretive signage for the park.
Many of these projects have received awards, including the National Trust for Historic Preservation Honor Award in 2003 and most recently an AIA Dallas Chapter Restoration Award and a Preservation Achievement Award for the Parry Avenue Gate and Esplanade project in 2010.
*Ms. McCoy served as Project Manager, Architect and/or Principal-in-Charge of projects from 1997-2006 for the Architect of Record, ARCHITEXAS.
