Texas Theatre
Dallas, Texas

A National Register of Historic Places nomination was prepared and the Texas Theatre was listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Nomination made the case for listing with “national significance” and established the period of significance as November 22, 1963, the date that Oswald was apprehended by police inside of the theater. The cultural significance of the Texas Theatre is best understood in the context of the School Book Depository, Oswald’s residence and other sites associated with Oswald on the day President John F. Kennedy was assassinated.

Although the theater’s appearance was more appealing in 1932, when it was built, plans are appropriately in place to restore the theater to its appearance on the day Oswald was arrested there.
